The harvest is great, but the workers are few

Jesus saw the multitudes. He was moved with compassion on them, because they were burdened with problems and didn't know where to go for help. They were like sheep without a shepherd. So He said to His disciples, "The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send out more workers for His fields." (Matthew 9:36-37, NLT)

Jesus then empowered His disciples and sent them out to minister (Matthew 10:1 and 11:1). He further empowered and commissioned the church, believers in Christ, to go out to minister (Matthew 28:18-20 and Acts 1:8). Lord, help us be Your workers in the fields.

This work of love is one of outreach. It is one of winning others to Christ by pointing them to Jesus the Savior. However, we must encourage believers along the way by teaching them to obey God and helping one another to live for Christ.
Would you be a worker in the Lord's fields?

To help us be better workers in the Lord's fields we are beginning an outreach strategy called "Operation: Outreach." This strategy will begin September 10th and continue through May 20, 2008. We will meet on Mondays for a light meal at 6:00 p.m. and then work in the Lord's fields at 6:30 p.m.

Every fourth week "Operation: Outreach" will shift to Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. with a light meal at 4:30 p.m. All youth and adult classes will be suspended on those evenings and encouraged to participate.

We will have separate stations for telephoning, letter and card writing, prayer, encouragement, and prospects. Come, be a worker in God's field. Use your talents and abilities for the Lord's work.
Well done my good and faithful servant
