Diane Reed - Children's Director
I have been married to Ken, an elementary school principal, for almost 36 years. We have two grown children, Wade is 33 and Julie is 29. Julie is married to Jason Bogardus and they have a son, Rogan, who was born in February, 2007. Wade is married to Shannon Cherry from Henderson. I became a member of this church in 1978 by letter from Unity Baptist Church in Chester County. I became a Christian when I was nine, and later rededicated my life to Christ when I was 17. I am a retired elementary school teacher, having taught for 33 years. I believe God called me to this job for a purpose, and when He decides that my purpose is fulfilled here, I will step down.
Favorite author: My favorite author is Lavyrle Spencer, and my favorite book of hers is "Morning Glory".
Hobbies and/or Interests: I love listening to Irish folk music and Bluegrass. My favorite hobby is sitting in my pajamas and working the USA Today crossword puzzle.
Favorite sport: I don't have a favorite sport or favorite team; I love to go to any game that people I love participate in.
Life verse and/or Favorite Bible verse: I love this verse, NIV: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38 I also love this saying (I have it painted on my bedroom wall) “God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.”
Most embarrassing moment: My most embarrassing moment (there were MANY to choose from) was : I was walking from the town of Martin, TN back to the college campus with an armload of groceries and a man stopped to offer me a ride. After I put my groceries in the seat, hopped in, and saw his horrified expression...I looked up and discovered he had only stopped for the redlight!!!
Favorite Food: My favorite food is a hamburger from Bell's Diner in Henderson, TN.
Favorite pastime: My favorite pastime is making my grandson laugh.
Something most people might not know about you: I used to be young.
